Habitat for Humanity India is a non-profit organization working for the Cause of elimination of poverty housing. Its vision is: “A world where everyone has a decent place to live”. The purpose and goal of Habitat for Humanity is to combat the scourge of poverty housing, and to make, “decent shelter for all” a matter of conscience and action.
As part of its growth strategy, Habitat for Humanity India (HFHI) is planning to build 100,000 houses in the next 5 Years. In order to facilitate exponential growth, Habitat is seeking to recruit personnel with a commitment to serve in the social sector, and be an important member of the HFH India team, enabling it to successfully meet its goals.
 
Positions available with Habitat for Humanity India Trust
 
1. Associate Civil Engineer
 
Location:- Mumbai.
 
Essential Qualification:
Diploma/Graduate in Civil Engineering from a recognized university
 
Relevant Experience and skills:
1. 1-3 years of experience - preferably with a construction Major in site supervision, material planning and estimation
2. Experience in cost effective housing/shelter development
3. Skills required
4. Fluency in written and spoken English
5. Marathi language skill preferred.
6. Good communication and presentation skills.
7. Advanced skills in the use of spreadsheets, word-processing programs Auto CAD and the Internet.
8. Cross cultural management skills
 
Primary responsibilities:
1. Develop adequate source material on low cost, durable housing materials and technology. Check ‘Lab to Market’ potential of developing technologies.
2. Enable disaster management mitigation specifications in housing design and specifications.
3. Supervise and monitor building construction for quality.
4. Support program in design, specifications, costing and BOQs/ BOMs for projects.
5. Support Resource Development and Volunteer Program Departments.
6. Design and develop Water and Sanitation solutions based on best practices
7. Research and keep abreast of Material standards, Building standards. Enable aligning of material used/specifications and construction to these standards.
